After staffers of the Town of Palm Beach are given thank-you bags at the Oct. 13 Employee Appreciation Picnic at the Recreation Center, some of them will be faced with a delicious quandary: crab cakes or calamari? Taco trio or panini? Pizza or poached salmon with grainy mustard sauce?

According to Mary McQuaig, a staff member of the Town’s Finance Department who’s on the picnic committee, six Palm Beach restaurants and one downtown West Palm Beach eatery have donated a total of 10 gift certificates—valued at $50 apiece—for the appreciation bags, which will be given to town employees who attend the 11 a.m.-3 p.m. picnic.

The restaurants include Renato’s, E.R. Bradley’s, Testa’s, Pizza al Fresco, Cha Cha’s, Cucina dell’Arte and Nick & Johnnie’s.

They’re among 30 businesses in town that have donated merchandise or gift certificates for the town-employee appreciation bags. Between now and the picnic, it’s likely other businesses will contribute goodies for the bags, McQiaig says. “Each bag will have a different mix of items and certificates…The picnic is so important. We’re like a family.”

Restaurants and other businesses that want to contribute to the thank-you bags can contact McQuaig at 227-6336 or at mmcquaig@townofpalmbeach.com.
